Legal Aid Clinic
Where Legal Education Meets Social Responsibility
Legal Aid Clinic: Access to Justice for All
Our Vision
At DBHP Sabha’s Shri P V Joshi Law college, Dharwad we believe that legal knowledge is a social asset. Our Legal Aid Clinic serves as the primary gateway for our students to engage with the community, providing essential legal guidance to the underprivileged and ensuring that the right to justice is accessible to everyone, regardless of their socio-economic status.
Significance of the Legal Aid Clinic
• Clinical Legal Education (BCI Mandate): As per BCI requirements, the clinic functions as a laboratory for law, allowing students to apply classroom learning to real-world legal problems under the supervision of faculty.
• Community Outreach: We reach out to rural and marginalized communities in and around Dharwad, offering support to those who cannot afford professional legal services.
• Professional Ethics: By handling real-life queries, students develop the moral compass, empathy, and professional responsibility necessary for the legal profession.
• Public Service: The clinic acts as a local support pillar, helping citizens understand their basic rights, government schemes, and judicial procedures.
Services Provided
• Legal Counseling: Providing free advice on civil, criminal, family, and property matters.
• Document Assistance: Helping citizens draft affidavits, petitions, and applications for government welfare schemes.
• Mediation & Conciliation: Offering out-of-court settlement support for community and family disputes.
• Awareness Programs: Conducting workshops on the Consumer Protection Act, Right to Information (RTI), Women’s Rights, and Labour Laws.
