Independence Day

Every great journey begins with a single step. Today marks the beginning of yours.

Freedom is meaningful only when safeguarded by justice, responsibility, and the rule of law.

Date: 15 August

India celebrates Independence Day on 15 August each year to commemorate the nation’s
freedom from British colonial rule in 1947 after decades of unwavering struggle and sacrifice by
countless freedom fighters. The day stands as a powerful reminder of the courage, resilience, and
unity that shaped modern India and laid the foundation for a sovereign democratic republic.

Our institution celebrates this historic occasion with patriotic pride through the ceremonial hoisting
of the National Flag, the National Anthem, inspiring addresses by distinguished guests, cultural
performances, patriotic competitions, and awareness programmes that highlight the significance
of freedom, constitutional governance, and civic responsibility.

As a law college, the celebration carries a deeper meaning by encouraging students to reflect upon
the rights and duties enshrined in the Constitution, the importance of the rule of law, and the role
of the legal profession in safeguarding democracy, justice, and human rights.
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel

Every citizen of India must remember that he is an Indian and he has every right in this
country but with certain duties.
