Constitution Day

Every great journey begins with a single step. Today marks the beginning of yours.

The Constitution is not merely a document—it is the living conscience of a democratic nation.

Constitution Day, also known as Samvidhan Divas, is observed annually on 26 November to
commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India by the Constituent Assembly in 1949.
The Constitution came into force on 26 January 1950, laying the foundation of the world’s largest
democracy. In 2015, the Government of India officially declared 26 November as Constitution
Day to honour the remarkable contribution of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, the Chairman of the Drafting
Committee, whose vision and leadership continue to guide the nation.

Being a premier institution of legal education, our college celebrates the occasion with
constitutional pledge ceremonies, Preamble readings, expert lectures by judges, advocates,
academicians, and legal scholars, panel discussions, debates, quizzes, essay competitions, and
legal awareness programmes. Through these activities, students are encouraged to appreciate the
constitutional values of Justice, Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity, while strengthening their
understanding of democratic governance, the rule of law, and the responsibilities of every citizen.

Constitutional morality is not a natural sentiment. It has to be cultivated.

-Dr. B. R. Ambedkar
